“Snow and Stream” by Diana Rogers

One Point Perspective: Come conquer one point perspective with Diane
Podrat, on Zoom, Saturday, May 17, 10:00-11:30. Based on Diane’s
decades of teaching, she will present an easy-to-understand explanation and
demonstration. She will then invite viewers to try a drawing exercise so they
can apply what they’ve learned. Diane will offer feedback to those who desire
such. Bring several pieces of paper, pencil and an eraser!
One point perspective is a technique for creating the illusion of depth and
space (three dimensions) on a flat surface, such as your canvas. This
is what makes a painting or drawing appear to have form, dimension,
distance, and space. It makes art look realistic.

About CAS member Diane Podrat
Award winning artist Diane Podrat captures atmospheric effects in watercolor.
Light, space, detail, architecture and nature appear in some form in her work.
A graduate of Rhode Island School of Design, Diane has painted
professionally since 1969.
She retired after serving as an art teacher in the Branford Public Schools for
34 years and now devotes her professional life to teaching for Shelton Art
League and painting full time.
Diane’s work can be found in many private collections throughout the U.S. and
is on view at the Gilded Lily Gallery in Milford, CT.

Paint It! General Critiques

When: First Thursday of the Month, 10 am – Noon
Where: Virtual via Zoom

Join in this lively discussion of composition, materials and techniques. Members may submit a work for discussion via email to [email protected]. A Zoom link will be sent upon submission. Please submit your painting by Wednesday at 4 pm prior to the Thursday Critique.

Paint It! Themed Critiques

When: Third Saturday of the Month, 10 am – Noon
Where: Virtual via Zoom

Our next Themed Critique will be in March. The theme is Trees.

Coordinator: Lorraine Yurkewicz

Members create artworks in any media based on that sessions’ theme. Submit in progress pieces, drawings, paintings or finished pieces for discussion to [email protected]. Each participant will discuss their process with the theme. Join us for a great way to challenge and build skills. Please submit paintings by Friday at 4pm prior to the Saturday session. A link for the zoom session will be sent upon submission of your painting.
