Artist Statement
My paintings are invitations—open spaces where color, texture, and light
come together to invite the viewer in. I try to create an atmosphere, a
moment suspended between what is seen and what is felt. The color,
composition and light I paint on the canvas is designed to suggest depth
and movement, encouraging the eye to linger and explore. Ultimately, my
goal is to create a meeting place between what I see and what I invite the
viewer to see. Like Edgar Degas’s quote included here, I invite you into my
paintings and enjoy. “Art is not what you see, but what you make others
