Artist Statement
I am naturally highly expressive. If you could assign an art analogy to my
personality it would probably be “colorful.” What makes my artist heart “sing” is
that feeling of taking something which is already beautiful to me and using
expressive color and value to highlight the things that most strike me in the subject
hoping that you will feel it also.
Pastels are the perfect medium for me. They are pure, glorious pigment with very
little binder to hold them in their shape and can be miraculously layered one on
top of the other for a translucent effect that doesn’t rob them of their individuality. I
hope my art gives you as much joy as I experienced in creating it. – Lorna
